5.8 Importing Opportunities via CSV (Advanced)

Purpose:

Allows you to bulk create new Opportunity records or potentially update existing ones using a CSV spreadsheet file. This is less common than importing contacts but can be useful in specific migration scenarios or if generating deals from an external list.

(Summary - Refer to platform documentation or Admin for detailed steps as this is an advanced function.)

General Process:

  1. Prepare CSV: Create a spreadsheet including essential columns like:
    • Contact ID (Crucial: You need the unique Close Master ID for the Contact each opportunity belongs to. Obtainable via contact export or API).
    • Opportunity Name
    • Pipeline Name (Must match existing pipeline name exactly)
    • Stage Name (Must match existing stage name exactly)
    • Lead Value ($ amount)
    • Opportunity Status (Open, Won, Lost, Abandoned)
    • Owner (Full name of assigned user)
    • (For Updates): Include an Opportunity ID column with the existing IDs.
    • Include columns for relevant Opportunity Custom Fields.
  2. Navigate to Import Tool: Look for an "Import Opportunities" option, often hidden under a ... (more actions) menu within the main Opportunities screen or potentially within Settings.
  3. Upload CSV.
  4. Map Fields: Carefully match your spreadsheet columns to the corresponding Close Master Opportunity fields. Contact ID mapping is critical.
  5. Configure Options: Name the import, choose Create/Update behavior, handle empty values, optionally add Tags.
  6. Confirm Consent/Review.
  7. Submit Import.
  8. Monitor: Track progress and check for errors in the Bulk Actions log (ContactsBulk Actions). Download and fix any errors in the provided error file.

Note: Importing opportunities requires careful data preparation, especially obtaining the correct Contact IDs, and is considered an advanced procedure. Proceed with caution and test with a small sample first.
