23.3 SHAKEN/STIR Registration (US Voice Call ID Verification)

What it is & Why:

  • SHAKEN/STIR is a technology framework used by telecom providers in the US to combat illegal Caller ID spoofing and reduce unwanted robocalls.
  • Registering your business allows carriers to digitally verify that outbound calls originating from your LC Phone numbers are legitimate and actually coming from your agency.
  • Benefit: Helps reduce the likelihood of your legitimate business calls being flagged as "Spam Likely" or "Scam Likely" on the recipient's Caller ID display, increasing answer rates and trust.

Where to Manage:

SettingsPhone NumbersTrust CenterShaken/STIR (Voice) tab (or similar name).

Prerequisite:

  • Requires having an approved A2P Brand Registration first (See 23.1). The SHAKEN/STIR registration uses your verified business identity from the Brand registration.

Process:

  1. Navigate to the SHAKEN/STIR section in the Trust Center.
  2. Initiate the registration process (often a simple submission using your approved Brand information).
  3. Wait for approval/processing status (usually relatively quick).
  4. Fees: Typically free to register.
  5. Application: Once approved, the SHAKEN/STIR attestation (proving call legitimacy) should be automatically applied by the LC Phone system to outbound calls made from the phone numbers associated with your approved Brand.

While not guaranteeing calls *never* get flagged (other factors apply), SHAKEN/STIR registration is a crucial step for improving call reputation.
