12.7 Content Moderation: Reporting & Managing Content

Purpose:

Provide tools for both members and administrators to maintain a positive, professional, and appropriate environment within the community group by flagging and addressing problematic content.

Reporting Content (Action for Any Member):

  1. If a member encounters a Post or Comment that they believe is inappropriate, spammy, offensive, or violates the group's established rules:
  2. Click the ... (three dots) menu located on that specific post or comment.
  3. Select the Report option.
  4. Confirm the report.
  5. The reported item is flagged and added to a moderation queue for review by group Admins/Moderators.

Managing Reported Content (Admin/Owner/Moderator Access):

Admins, Owners, and Moderators are typically notified when content is reported and can access a queue to review these flags.

  1. Access the Moderation Queue:
    • Web: Go into the Community GroupSettings (gear icon) → Reported Content tab.
    • Mobile App (Kollab by LeadConnector): Go into the Group → tap the Manage button → look for a section like To Review or Reported Content.
  2. Review Flagged Items: The queue displays a list of reported posts or comments. It typically shows the content itself, who reported it, and potentially the reason provided (if applicable). Click on an item to view it in its original context within the discussion feed.
  3. Take Action: For each reported item, the Admin/Moderator must decide how to proceed:
    • Keep / Dismiss Report: If the content is deemed acceptable and does not violate rules, choose this option. The report flag is dismissed, and the content remains visible.
    • Remove / Delete Content: If the content is inappropriate or violates rules, choose this option. The reported post or comment is permanently deleted from the group feed.
  4. (Optional) Further Action: Based on the severity or pattern of behavior, the Admin/Moderator might also navigate to the offending user's profile from the reported content view to take further action, such as sending a warning message, temporarily suspending posting privileges (if available), or banning the user from the group entirely (See 12.4).

Notifications:

Admins/Owners usually receive notifications (via Email, In-App alerts, or Mobile Push notifications) when new content is reported within their groups, prompting them to review the queue. Prompt moderation helps maintain a healthy community environment. Clearly communicating group rules upfront can also help minimize the need for moderation.
